Tax Reform

Tax reform has been an important area for which there has been a great deal of talk but little action.  Since the 1970’s, commissions have been calling for the fundamental reform of the Internal Revenue Code.  The simple fact is that government spends too much and needs to reduce the excessive tax burden on the American people which is substantial and continually growing.  The top 50 percent of taxpayers pay 96% of total federal income taxes.  The death tax in particular is a burden on those trying to pass the family business down to successive generations and it imposes an additional tax on those assets which have already been taxed. I was proud to sign the pledge by the Americans for Tax Reform stating my opposition to any tax increases for hard working Americans.

The time is long overdue to:

  • Replace the current  tax code with something much more fair and simple.
  • Cutting income tax rates across the board for everyone who pays taxes.
  • Providing marriage tax penalty relief.
  • Eliminating the estate tax.
